I know that I have said this many times in the past, but I just simply love this time of year when Kansas City Fashion Week rolls around. For me it really feels like Christmas morning for four days straight with exciting special events, getting to know the local designers and business owners and not to mention of course all the amazing fashion!!! This year;s showcase is a special one, because it marks the fifth year Kansas City Fashion Week has been in production. Even receiving a special award from Kansas City, MO Mayor Sly James in honor of that milestone. Thursday night's presentation exhibited a mixture of dark and edgy minimalism with just a hint of glamorous couture. Style was definitely one full display at Union Station that night, but don't take my word for it. See for yourself!
The Little Line By Liz Olathe,KS

What made me really like this line was the mixture of structured tailoring with intricate details using light fringing and contrasting colors.
T. Michelle Manhattan,KS
I have always said that if I ever decide to have children one day, they will be very poshly dressed. Most of the children's wear you see today are your average cookie cutter cutesy which is something that even as a child myself I simply couldn't take wearing lol! Not to say that there is anything wrong with that, but sometimes even kids need to step outside of the box when it comes to fashion. T. Michelle's designs really took me back to my childhood of wearing outfits that were extremely stylish, but also unique. Let me tell you, there is nothing more exhilarating when you're young than going to school or an event in an outfit that you know none of your other friends may have.
More Than Just Fig Leaves New York, NY

This really stood out for me through many interpretations. From it I got a sense of refined school girl innocence on the outside with raw and dark mystery in the inside. What comes to mind for me is Anime where the characters all seem to be normal everyday youth, but there is a dark and haunting back story behind what the viewer sees. I loved it!
Ola Style St. Louis,MO
T: @olahawatmeh I: @styleola
Ola Style is one of my personal favorites because you never know what to expect from her line as far as silhouettes are concerned, however elegance will always be a constant staple to her aesthetic. Here, she takes us into the Fall capturing the beauty of changing leaves, and vibrant latter year florals.
Gypsy Blaque Independence,MO

Where gothic meets glamour, this line from Gypsy Blaque is beauty and danger all rolled up into one.

In this presentation from The House of Khai, we see minimalism taken to the darkest edges of the mind that is both intriguing and welcoming all at once.
