If you had of told me a few years back that I would be writing a fashion blog, you probably would have been met with laugh and an eye roll. All of the fashion blogs, books, and websites are written by people with more years and expertise under their belt than I had. I spent so much time trying to figure out what my niche was and trying to be the next Rachel Zoe or the next Stacy London. After a series of failures and driving myself close to the brink of insanity, I began to realize that I was wasting my time reverting back to my old high school ways. Trying to fit in and becoming the next whatever. It wasn't until I attended my very first Fashion Week at Kansas City Fashion Week where I felt inspired to give fashion blogging another try, only this time I was going to be true to myself. I wanted to present fashion from my point of view based off of my experiences and to show the world what Kansas City is really all about. Today to we will take a look back at seven of my favorite stories from the past year.

Covering my second Kansas City Fashion Week (posted 3/15/14-3/18/14)

After attending my first show the previous season, I knew that this was something that I wanted to experience again and again which is what spearheaded this blog. I remember being so nervous sitting among other media people who were more experienced. However, everyone was so kind and shared the same love of fashion as I do. Whenever I go to these events, I feel right at home.

My first makeup tutorial. Spruce Up Your Spring with Radiant Orchid (Part 2 Face Time). 4/21/2014
This was something else that I have always wanted to do, but was nervous about doing. Years ago I used to work as a makeup artist at a local cosmetics store, and I loved giving clients advice on how to improve their looks with a few simple tricks. I can honestly say that doing a makeup tutorial takes a long time, and a lot of re-applying!!!

West 18th Street Fashion Show "Ceremonial Summer" 2014, 6/22/2014
Next to attending KCFW, this was one of the most exciting moments of my life. West 18th Street Fashion Show is a very special fashion event, because only the top 18 designer out of many applicants gets chosen to showcase their work. The night was so beautiful as were the people and the designs that walked down the runway.

Interview Exclusive: Hannah Olson of Hannah Caroline Couture. 11/9/2014
I almost cried the first time I met this inspirational designer. As a full-figured woman myself, I too know all too well the stigma one can face in the fashion industry. Hannah Caroline thumbed her nose at the nay sayers to create fabulously divine couture creations for women of all sizes. It was an esteemed honor to be able to interview this phenomenal woman.

KCFW Spring 2015- The Finale Sunday Afternoon 9/28/2014. (10/21/2014)
This was one of my favorite shows to cover, because it was mostly all about the little dumplings! It was literally one of those "If I had a son or daughter this is what they would wear." kind of moments.

Special Edition: My Picks For Best and Not So Best Dressed. Oscars 2015
So as a fashion blogger, I felt it was my duty to weigh in on some of the looks that walked the red carpet during this years Oscars. Ok, so I'm laughing as I write this, because I'm not an elite style expert or nothing, but is was loads of fun seeing some of the looks, and making small critiques.
My top story of the entire year.....This One!!!
#1
It would have been easy to pick another story to add as my number one. But what would make a better number one story than the one that I'm posting today. This blog has been more than just a way of sharing my love of fashion to the world. It has also served as a learning experience. In the past year I learned a lot about people, different cultures, places, and most importantly myself. Fashion is more than just the shirt or dress you put on in the morning. It's about expression, a feeling, taking a stance, status, embracing culture, as well as history. But most of all fashion is a story. A story about us. And that couldn't be more fabulous. I hope to have many more years to share this experience with you all. Thank you so much for giving me the chance to do so. Until we meet again my lovelies, stay fabulous!!!
