After the previous night, I was ready to see what Thursday Night's showcase had in store. I've found that even after some time off, I never grow tired of being surrounded by this great fashion community here in Kansas City. The genuine warmth, and determination of everyone involved proves that there is more than meets the eye in this city. From food, art, culture, and even fashion, Kansas City is truly the best.
Westbrook - Brittany Westbrook
Before getting into fashion, a few of my first jobs involved working in an office setting as an administrative assistant in the early 2000's. Although I understood the basic suit dress codes, I still found them rather unflattering and boring. Being a teenager back then only added to the frustrations of having limitations on style while working in a professional setting. Oh how far we've come from the boxy suits and separates which is why I am so drawn to this collection by Brittany Westbrook. The garments easily transform from boardroom to after 5 with a switch of shoes and accessories as well as a well-tailored jacket or blazer.
LOFT - Oak Park Mall (Instagram - @oakparkmall)
I used to work a LOFT at Oak Park Mall for one of my required internships for school. As a person who absolutely LOVES incorporating separates into her wardrobe, LOFT has an endless supply of options for busy women like me. As an added bonus, the company has recently added full-figured sizes making it an all-inclusive brand.
Maddie Lucille (Instagram - @maddielucille)
The F/W 2019 collection of Maddie Lucille was a mixture of fun, femininity, and a slight touch of edge in my opinion. I will always be a sucker for easy wear dresses, and of course textured fabrics that adds just a slight touch of uniqueness to a garment. Maddie clearly hit the mark with this one.
I've always enjoyed viewing a Kansas City Fashion Week showcase, and this season was no exception. I was especially thrilled for this being my first time attending a showcase at the historic Power & Light building which was absolutely gorgeous. It's no wonder why KCFW is the premier, and highly sought after fashion event in the Midwest. But hey! You don't have to take my word for it. Come see a showcase in September. I hope to see you there, and until then lovelies Stay Fabulous!!!
